I’ve been using the iPhone X for the past couple of weeks and I can’t think of a single use case that I’d like to use it for that doesn’t involve marine science.
The most common use case I can think of is recording a podcast in the background while you’re using the phone, like I did recently.
I’ve already used the iPhone 8 Plus for some podcasts and even though I’ve gotten a little used to the new layout, I’m not really sure why I prefer this approach over the iPhone 6s Plus.
For me, I prefer the phone to sit on my lap in front of my TV, and I’m also used to using my phone to play music in the foreground.
So why is this a bad idea?
Well, this new layout makes it a lot harder to play podcasts in the dark or on the airplane.
I can only imagine the frustration that other podcasters would have when they tried to do this with an iPhone.
It also adds a lot of clutter to the interface, which is something I’m very sensitive about.
So I’d prefer to use the iPhone for podcasts, but I think that’s just me.
I’m more of a desktop user and I prefer to work on my laptop instead of the iPhone.
But for me, this makes it more of an awkward situation for me to use an iPhone with the iPad Pro because of all the extra stuff on the screen.
For people who like podcasts, I hope this change will be the solution that helps them get back to their favorite podcast apps without having to get creative with the layout.
