The most expensive cryptocurrency to mine today is Bitcoin, according to a report from the Crypto Coins Research Lab, with the average price at $1,500 per coin.
Bitcoin is currently trading at $11,732.92, according the report.
The average coin in the top 25 cryptocurrencies was worth $3,071.32 at the time of publication, the report found.
The coin with the highest average price was Ethereum at $4,823.90, followed by Litecoin at $3.722 and Dash at $2.534.
The second most expensive coin to mine was Ripple at $9,837.75, with Litecoin on $2,749.80.
The least expensive coin was Dash at just $2 per coin, according Crypto Coins.
The report comes after a number of high-profile incidents in recent weeks that have exposed the growing pains of cryptocurrency mining.
On Monday, the U.S. Senate voted to require the Securities and Exchange Commission to create a Bitcoin-specific rule, with a potential impact on cryptocurrency miners, who have been pushing for more regulation.
Meanwhile, a group of hackers launched a new cryptocurrency called “CryptoCurrency,” which is based on the Ethereum blockchain and has a limited supply.
